West Indies all-rounder Chris Gayle, who turns out for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League, played on April 22, 2013 the most breath-taking knock ever witnessed in T20 history. In the Royal Challengers Bangalore- Pune Warriors game at RCB’s homeground Chinnaswamy Stadium, Gayle played an unbelievable innings of 175 off just 66 balls, shattering several records along the way. He scored his ton off just 30 balls, the fastest century to date in any format of cricket. He belted 17 sixes, the highest by far in an innings, becoming the first cricketer to score a hundred in sixes alone. His score of 175 is the highest in a T20 innings so far. In the match, RCB rode on his swashbuckling batting to finish with 263 for five and defeat their opponents by a record 130 runs, the highest till now in T20 history.
Jess Cameron of Australia was adjudged Player of the Match. Anya Shrubsole of England and Megan Schutt of Australia were the highest wicket-takers with 13 wickets each. Suzie Bates of New Zealand who scored most number of runs (407) in the tournament was adjudged Player of the Tournament.
