Singapore to set up skill center in North-East :

  • Singapore is going to set up a skill center in North-East.
  • Guwahati is set to get first skill development center.
  • For this, a MoU has been signed between Govt. of Assam and Singapore. Ministry of DoNER will be the Coordinating Agency.

 

Shaheed Gram Vikas Yojna Launched by Jharkhand Govt

  • To develop villages of the freedom fighter of states and to provide their habitants basic amenities.
  • Launched from Ulihatu Village, which is the birthplace of Birsa Munda.
  • These are Naxal Hit villages which will be provided with Pucca House under the Scheme.

 

Hurricane Maria Lashes Dominica and other Caribbean islands :

  • Maria ravaged Dominica and other Caribbean Islands.
  • It was a category 5 storm which later on turned into Category 4 storm.
  • The storm’s hurricane-force winds extended out about 45 km and tropical storm-force winds out as far as around 205 km.
  • Forecasters predicted storm surge could raise water levels by 6 to 9 feet (1.8 to 2.7 meters) near the storm’s center. The storm is predicted to bring 10 to 15 inches (25 to 38 centimeters) of rain across the islands, with more in isolated areas.
