Abhijeet Kaplish who always dreamt of reaching the zenith of excellence in Civil Services Examination has come true by securing the 15th Rank in the year 2014 at the age of 25 years.
Love for slum children and to do something for the social cause inspired Abhijeet Kaplish to opt for the IAS. He thinks that being an administrative officer, he can achieve what he had thought. Abhijit also taught slum children while he was pursuing his engineering from a private institute near Kharar.
Abhijit Kaplish said, “If you have that feeling to serve social cause and community, then one must aspire to be an IAS officer. This way we can contribute to eradicate corruption from the society”.

Family Background
Abhijeet Kaplish stayed in Chandigarh with his parents. His grandfather, A C Sharma, was a Joint Secretary with the Punjab Government and is a retired IAS officer. His father Raman Kaplish is serving as Chief Manager with HAFED. His mother is an associate professor at government college. Abhijit said that his entire family inspired him but the major inclination was towards his grandfather and it was the dream come true for his father.
Educational Background
Abhijeet Kaplish completed mechanical engineering from Rayat Bahara University and he also pursued LLB from Punjab University and made the tricity proud by securing 15th rank. After competing his engineering in mechanical stream, he started preparing for the UPSC Exam.
Optional Paper
Abhijeet Kaplish optional subject was Sociology and since this is a subject which extremely passionated him and he enjoyed throughout his whole preparation. He found syllabus of Sociology very crispy and short and concerned about social issues which were quite beneficial for writing an essay.

Attempts by Abhijeet Kaplish
Abhijeet Kaplish cracked UPSC Exam in his second attempt. After he failed to make it his first attempt he took it as a challenge to make it to the Civil Services. Though he had done well in his Mains Exam in 2013, but he had failed in qualifying the hindi exam.
Preparation Strategy
Abhijeet Kaplish never took any type of coaching and made it to the IAS entirely based upon self-study. He always wanted to be an IAS officer as it was his father and grandfather’s dream. He was happy that he could make them proud today. He used to study at least for six hours. His IAS interview was not factual, but mainly theoretical; it went well. He was expecting a good result, but rank 15 was a pleasant surprise.
