Krittika Jyotsna Mishra a girl from Hyderabad bagged the 30th rank and topped the Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Exam, 2013, in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Joining Civil services was her aim even from her childhood. However, she started preparing for services after finishing her Post Graduation. Krittika says, “It is a challenging job but she will work with complete dedication and determination”

Family Background
Krittika’s father S.B.L. Mishra, is an IFS officer and former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Telangana. Her mother, Nirupama Mishra is a Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission officer (UPPSC ) with the Aligarh Municipal Corporation. Her brother Kartikeya Mishra is an IAS officer and is presently Chairman and Managing Director of North Zone, APCPDCL. Her sister Kanika Jyotsna works with Standard Chartered Bank in Dubai. Her husband Rahul Pandey is an IAS officer of UP cadre of 2014 batch.
Educational Background
Krittika Jyotsna was raised in Hyderabad. She completed her schooling from Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. She did Bachelors in Mathematics from Miranda House (Delhi University) and also completed her Post Graduation in Mathematics from Delhi University.

Optional Paper
Krittika Jyotsna opted for Sociology as her optional paper as she have gained command over the subject.
There were changes in the exam pattern in the year 2010 as an optional subject has been replaced with CSAT. Later in 2013, only one optional subject was allowed to be taken in the Mains instead of two. Initially Public Administration and Sociology were her optional subjects.

She cleared UPSC Civil Services Exam in her fourth attempt bagging the 30th rank in the All-India Exam while topping the State. She gave her first attempt in the year 2010.

Success Strategy
She studied for six hours a day. In fact, she did most of the preparation on her own and made her own notes only and revised them before the exam. However, for the Mains exam she took the guidance of Gopal Krishna of Brain Tree Academy, Hyderabad.
Suggestions for the future Aspirants
- Everybody should take very good care of their health.
- The aspirants should develop patience as civil services preparation is a time taking process.
- Freshers should learn to separate good material from the bad one and should have complete understanding of each step of examination before writing it.
- The second and third attempters should not lose faith but they should continue working hard and remember that hard work always pays.
