Meet Tina Dabi IAS Topper 2015 – 2016

A mercurial young girl Tina Dabi of 22 years from New Delhi has shown immense potential throughout her career and has topped the prestigious Civil Services Exams 2015, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. It has also again showed the growing clout of woman in the Indian Civil Services.

Bright and bubbly Tina Dabi woke up from a nap Tuesday evening and discovered she had topped the Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) Civil Services Examination and has just achieved what many would have taken years to achieve. Tina is an inspiration for Indian youths, particularly girls.

Mother from Maharashtra, father from Rajasthan. Tina is a Delhi girl. But when asked for her preference of cadre, she says the state has challenges and I would prefer the Haryana cadre. “I opted for Haryana because it presents such an interesting example, where you have a lot of economic progress but when it comes to social indicators you are lagging behind, and that is a very big paradox.”

“What is actually holding Haryana back is its patriarchal mindset and the gender inequality, which is a subject very close to my heart, since I am a woman from a progressive family and have also studied in a college that lays great emphasis on gender equality, so that is something I want to change about the state,” she said.

As a matter of fact, Tina Dabi is a Dalit girl. Its a pleasant surprise that a Dalit girl topped the UPSC Civil Services Examination at the age of 22 years in her very first attempt.
