Nishant Jain cracked one of the country’s toughest and most prestigious examinations at the age of 28 year in 2015. He has done the city proud by securing the 13th rank at All India level in the UPSC’s Civil Services Examination and topping in the Hindi medium. Nishant’s performance particularly topping in Hindi medium encouraged youth and he is an idol for the aspirants those who are from Hindi background.
Nishant gives the credit of his success to his elder brother. He says his only incentive and collaboration could reach the level he is today. His only aim in life is to serve the country, to give respect to women and elders and to work for both to support them.

Family Background
Nishant’s father Sushil Jain was at private jobs and he is retired, mother Susheela Jain is a house maker. Brother Prashant Jain is a Journalist with the Times Group, while his elder sister Nikita Jain is a government employee.
Educational Background
Nishant Jain did his schooling from Saraswati Shishu Mandir and completed his Graduation from K K Inter College at Meerut. Jain completed his Masters in Hindi from Meerut College and M. Phil. from Delhi University. He then joined the Lok Sabha secretariat in the Department of Hindi.
During his college days, he was student editor of Meerut College’s official magazine, ‘Abhivyakti’, and was also a member of its literary and cultural council. Nishant Jain is a prolific writer, with a number of poems and articles published in newspapers and magazines.

Attempts
Nishant couldn’t clear the Preliminary Exam in his very first attempt. But he never gave up and tried for the second attempt and finally he came out with the flying colour of success.
Optional Paper
Nishant Jain opted for Hindi Literature as his optional subject. He says,”It doesn’t matter what subject we choose but we have to be confident with our choice and must know the subject very well”.
Nishant scored the third highest marks in Mains Written Examination and has secured the highest marks in essay paper too.
Tips for the Aspirants
- Not need to read a lot for more hours, just need to prudent.
- Integrated and comprehensive approach for the study are musts for cracking the UPSC Exam.
- Essay paper and Ethics are the game changers. So give importance to both subjects.
- Newspapers, TV/Radio discussions, net surfing are an important source of information.
- Be yourself and do not try to pretend anything or imitate others.
