When linguists talk about the historical relationship between languages, they use a tree metaphor. An ancient source (say, Indo-European) has various branches (e.g., Romance, Germanic), which themselves have branches (West Germanic, North Germanic), which feed into specific languages (Swedish, Danish, Norwegian).

Tamil is the oldest language of India. History of Tamil starts at “Kumari Kandam”.
Tamil does not find a mention. The uniqueness of Tamil is exclusive and NO OTHER Indian language can be compared. Every language is great but people should not make it greater than what it is. In what way Bengali is different from Hindi?
No mention of Tamil which is unique and different from Sanskrit/Hindustani or any other Indian language. Every language is great on its own merit. But people should not make it greater or older by their will.
