Sri Lanka and Japan sign a tripartite agreement with India
Sri Lanka has signed a tripartite agreement with India and Japan in Colombo for development of eastern terminal of Colombo port. According to this agreement, Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA) will hold 51 percent majority stake in the port development while Japan and India will have combined stake of 49 percent.

‘Orchha’ in UNESCO tentative list
The town Orchha is in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites tentative list. Orchha town is situated in the Niwari district of Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh, on the banks of the river Betwa.The town was established by Rudra Pratap Singh in 1501. Orchha is famous for it’s temples and palaces built during 16th and 17th centuries.
New Force Commander of UNMISS
57-year-old The Lieutenant General Shailesh Tinaikar commandant of the Indian Army Infantry School is appointed as the new force commander of UNMISS (United Nations Mission in South Sudan). He is appointed by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. He will look over 16,000 peacekeepers in which there are nearly 2,400 from India. He had served for Indian Armed Forces for more than 34 years.
DRDO successfully tested new bomb
Defense Research and Defence Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested flight of Su-30 MKI aircraft with 500 kg class Inertial Guided Bomb at the Pokhran test range in Rajasthan. The self-developed guided bomb achieved and hit the target at a distance with 30 km with high precision.
Ban on Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh
Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh is announced as a banned terrorist organization by the Indian government. In a notification, the home ministry said the outfit has committed acts of terrorism, promoted acts of terrorism and has been engaged in radicalization and recruitment of youths for terrorist activities in India. The Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh was blamed for the terror attack in Dhaka at a cafe in 2016 22 people were killed including 17 foreigners.

Tree Ambulance
In Chennai, The Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu has Inaugurated ‘The Tree Ambulance’ on the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) on 22 May 2019. It is initiative to relocate and revive trees after the cyclones Gaja(2018) and Vardah (2016) in Tamil Nadu.the plant expert with his helper armed with gardening tools will travel in the Tree Ambulance. Their aim is to plant trees that have been uprooted and offer other services such as a seed bank, distribution of plants and helping citizens in tree plantation drives
Multicellular fungus Ourasphaira Giralda
Scientists Recently had discovered the multicellular fungus named Ourasphaira Giralda in the microscopic fossil. This fossil is known as the oldest multicellular fungus fossil of the world. It is discovered in an arctic region of northwestern Canada. It is assumed that this fungus is the ancestor of today’s mushrooms, yeasts, and moulds. This fungus was from the date back to the Proterozoic era. Until now, the oldest-known fungus fossil was one about 410 million years old from Scotland.
