Indonesia Open badminton tournament: Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia won the men’s singles title at the Indonesia Open badminton tournament in Jakarta, Indonesia on June 16, 2013. In the final, he beat Marc Zwiebler of Germany. The women’s title was clinched by Chinese Olympic champion Li Xuerui, who defeated Julianne Schenk of Germany.
Thailand Open Grand Prix : K. Srikanth became the latest badminton sensation to emerge from India as he lifted his maiden international title at the Thailand Open Grand Prix that ended in Bangkok, Thailand on June 9, 2013. In the final, Srikanth beat local favourite Boonsak Ponsana in straight sets. Home star Ratchanok Intanon won the women’s title, beating compatriot Busanan Ongbumrungpan.
Indians win mixed doubles crown at Maldives : The Indian duo of K. Nandgopal and K. Manisha clinched the Li-Ning Maldives international badminton challenge mixed doubles title in Male, the Maldives on June 9, 2013. In the final, they beat the South Korean pair of Dae Sung Kim and Kyung Oh.
