Nigeria win African Cup of Nations

Nigeria win African Cup of Nations :

African powerhouse Nigeria won the title at the African Cup of Nations football championship which concluded in Soweto, South Africa on February 10, 2013. In the final, they beat Burkina Faso by 1-0 margin. This win ended a 19-year- long title drought for Nigeria.

Club World Cup :

Brazilian club Corinthians clinched the title at the prestigious Club World Cup football championship which concluded in Yokohama, Japan on December 16, 2012. In the final, they beat English giants Chelsea by a 1-0 margin. Mexican club Monterrey finished third, beating Egypt’s Al-Ahly 2-0 in the’ play-off.

India retain Nehru Cup :

 Hosts India retained the title of the Nehru Cup football tournament, beating Cameroon in the final in New Delhi on September 2, 2012. After the regulation time ended in a 2-2 tie, the hosts pulled off a miraculous 7-6 win in the tie­breakers.
