Lord Minto 1 (1807-1813)
Lord Minto 1 captured the islands of Bourbon and Mauritius from the French in 1809. In 1811 he captured Java from the Dutch. He also succeeded in befriending Ranjit Singh and thereby frustrated his designs to annex British territories.
